Maximize Your Solar + Battery Solution

Understand Your Energy Usage

Evaluate Your Equipment and Time of Day Usage

It’s incredibly important that you understand how your utility provider
breaks down your electricity charges. A detailed breakdown of your energy
bill will allow you to evaluate your business energy usage and identify
opportunities to reduce your utility bill. This information, your experience of
how your energy usage changes throughout the year and your future
energy plans are critical for sizing your solar array.

By installing correctly sized energy efficient equipment within your
business and balancing (where operationally possible) your most energy
intense activities to lower energy load times, you may be able to reduce
spikes in demand and better balance your daily energy consumption.

This information is also available in app and web based formats.

Tax Credits & Incentives

There are significant tax related incentives and tax credits available for taking your business solar. We’d be happy to take you through your options.

Two tax credits are available to businesses, local and tribal governments and nonprofits however in general a project owner can only claim one of the tax credits for each property. There are exceptions to this point and the Solar Energy Technologies Office guide Federal Solar Tax Credits for Businesses offers greater insight on this point.

The investment tax credit (ITC) reduces your federal income tax liability for a percentage of the cost of your solar installation within the tax year. And the production tax credit (PTC) is a kilowatt-hour tax credit for all electricity generated by solar and any other qualifying technology within the first 10 years of your systems operation. Much like the ITC it reduces your federal income tax liability however is adjusted annually for inflation.

For agricultural producers and rural small businesses Rural Energy for America Program, or REAP, grants are available to make energy efficiency improvements as well as for renewable energy solutions. Further information about REAP grants can be found at USDA.
