Solar Pergolas: High Efficiency

Kansas Solar System’s design team will work closely with your business and our NABCEP certified PV team to deliver a solar integrated pergola for your patio or outdoor seating area, as either a single energy source or as a way of supplementing your roof or carport solar.

Our teams will make recommendations based on your needs so that we can deliver an efficient pergola which creates shade for your customers or employees and generates energy for your business.

We use high efficiency bifacial panels within our commercial pergolas which create a bright and airy space. We also offer pergola customization with lighting, fans, power and USB outlets.

As with other types of solar array, location must be carefully considered in terms of shading.

Please note: Your solar array will remain connected to the grid unless you choose an off grid solution.

Design Features

Our solar structures are custom designed, which provides the opportunity to tailor each project to our clients’ liking. Your pergola can be attached or freestanding depending on your needs and personal preferences.

A popular choice are cedar structures for a natural wood look and for its durability, ability to withstand moisture in the air and its insect and termite repelling qualities. For a more industrial feel a highly durable USA steel structure can be designed. Any structure we design, will be analyzed by a structural engineer to ensure a high quality and long-lasting carport to host your array.

As with other types of solar array, location must be carefully considered in terms of shade exposure.

Our Preferred Equipment & Technology

Bifacial PV modules offer greater efficiency than traditional opaque, monofacial, panels as they absorb reflective light from the ground, water or other reflective surfaces in addition to absorbing light from the top side of the panel. This increase in energy generation per panel means your array will be smaller in physical size than an array built with monofacial panels.

Bifacial modules have a noticeably thinner profile in comparison to monofacial panels and are available as framed and frameless panels.

Kansas winters offer plenty of snow. Bifacial panels offer an advantage over monofancial panels when there’s snow on the ground because they produce energy from the top and bottom of the panel in the form of reflective light or, albedo. Snow covered surfaces produce reflected light and have what is known as high albedo. The reflected light results in panel energy generation and also heat which increases the rate of snowmelt on the panel.

EQUIPMENT

Our commercial designs respond to your business’ individual challenges, budget, energy usage and projected energy needs which means it’s important for us to work with established, market leading energy technology companies like Enphase, SolarEdge and other component companies who offer long warranties in addition to groundbreaking technology.

Proactive System Monitoring

We actively monitor all of our systems to make certain each array is producing energy as designed and without issue. Real time performance monitoring is also available via an easy to use app and web based portal.

Shade For Your Customers. Energy For You.

Tax Credits & Incentives

There are significant tax related incentives and tax credits available for taking your business solar, lowering the cost of going solar and making solar add ons such as batteries more affordable than ever. We’d be happy to take you through your options.

Two tax credits are available to businesses, local and tribal governments and nonprofits however in general a project owner can only claim one of the tax credits for each property. There are exceptions to this point and the Solar Energy Technologies Office guide Federal Solar Tax Credits for Businesses offers greater insight on this point.

The investment tax credit (ITC) reduces your federal income tax liability for a percentage of the cost of your solar installation within the tax year. And the production tax credit (PTC) is a kilowatt-hour tax credit for all electricty generated by solar and any other qualifying technology within the first 10 years of your systems operation. Much like the ITC it reduces your federal income tax liability however is adjusted annually for inflation.

For agricultural producers and rural small businesses Rural Energy for America Program, or REAP, grants are available to make energy efficiency improvements as well as for renewable energy solutions. Further information about REAP grants can be found at USDA.

Scheduling a complementary consultation is a great first step to exploring different solar solutions for your business. Feel free to ask us a question or schedule a complimentary consultation over the phone, online or in person.

We welcome the opportunity to visit with you and talk further about your solar and energy needs and the incentives available.
